Our Decontamination Process

At AWW, we begin the decontamination process by thoroughly washing the vehicle to remove any loose dirt and debris. Following this, we apply specialised products such as tar removers and clay bars. These products are designed to safely break down and lift the bonded contaminants from the paint without harming the underlying surface.

Tar and Sap Removal

Using tar-specific solvents, we carefully dissolve stubborn tar spots and sap, which are common on lower panels and around wheel wells. This careful application ensures that these sticky residues are removed without scratching or damaging your car’s finish.

Industrial Fallout Removal

Vehicles often accumulate microscopic metallic particles known as industrial fallout, which can oxidise and leave rust spots if not removed. We use chemical fallout removers that react with these metal particles, making them easy to eliminate during the clay bar treatment.

Clay Bar TreatmenT

Following the chemical treatments, we meticulously go over the paintwork with a clay bar. This fine yet effective tool picks up any remaining contaminants that have bonded to the surface of your vehicle. The clay bar is gentle yet effective, restoring the smoothness of your car’s exterior.

Is your detailing process safe for vintage or rare paintwork?

At AWW, our team have worked with an impressive range of exceptionally rare classics and understand the unique needs of vintage and rare paintwork when it comes to detailing.

Can you detail vehicles with unique or sensitive materials?

At AWW, we have seen it all. Our experienced specialist detailers know exactly what it takes to effectively restore the appearance of vehicles constructed using unique or sensitive materials.

Do you offer mobile detailing or collection services?

Yes. We offer mobile detailing that provides all the same services that are available in our workshops, and we also have an RT6 Tri-Axle trailer we can employ to collect and drop-off vehicles, minimising risk of damage en-route to and returning from our workshop.

How long does detailing generally take?

Typically between a few hours and a full day, depending on your vehicle’s condition and services required. We’ll provide a time estimate after initial assessment.

Will detailing affect the value of my car?
